New Beginnings

It’s a two-worded phrase that can mean many things. It either appears to sprout up from thin air or can grow out of a negative situation. It suggests a strong positive connotation to it, however, it can also generate feelings in comparison. The excitement and joy of a new beginning versus the fear and trepidation of a new beginning… all from two words!

The thing to be mindful of is to understand that these two words cannot stop time. Life will continue on whether you are experiencing a positive vibe or a challenging one. So despite which context the new beginning has developed from, you should welcome it and grab it tightly. Engage with it; take time out with it; make sure it has the right attributes to serve you on your new journey. Yes, I can hear you: "But I don't even know what my new journey is!" Perhaps this is so but you do know what you don’t want, so make sure you are not repeating a similar pattern to past situations that didn’t work nor resonate with you.

Still feeling a little uncertain about it all?

Well, that is where coaching comes in to assist. Coaching can help you work through what feels like a minefield or an entangled web. It can help you decide what your journey is or isn’t and by working with you, you will be able to understand things that are happening now to learn from them, so that when a similar feeling from within rises, you know you have experienced it before and can utilise some learnings to manage it yourself.

The new beginnings that are perceived to generate positivity straight away, such as a wedding day, a child coming into your life, or a promotion at work, is simply there to be enjoyed and to honour the hard work you have put in to attain them and the good feelings they bring. However, these can also create negative vibes too. The important thing is to find a balance that works for you so that you enjoy the experience despite the negative elements. Likewise, the new beginnings that appear to generate out of a negative situation require intermittent steps before the positive aspects can be felt – and one of them is the step of acceptance.

In order to see the true benefits, you must first accept what has happened and that the new beginning is happening because of that circumstance or change. This could be the loss of a job, a family member, a relationship, or financial security to name just a few. These can be particularly tough and denial is a huge factor – and very normal – but at some point, there will be the realisation of acceptance of the new beginning, and you will want to enjoy it when you are ready.

If you are feeling ready now to grab that new beginning and run with it, then coaching can help you do just that.
